“When it comes to A/V, you always have to have a fallback” says Reuben Evans, video director at Faithlife. Recently, Reuben had the privilege of showcasing the value of Proclaim’s built-in backup systems at a Desiring God conference—where he himself was a backup A/V tech.
Before their conference near Portland, Oregon, Desiring God learned that their original A/V plans for the retreat weren’t going to work.
Sam Macrane, director of development at Desiring God, recruited Reuben’s help to run the retreat in Proclaim. Sam leveraged Proclaim’s cloud-based functionality to share the presentation materials his team already created—videos, documents, and slides—and Reuben reassembled his presentation in Proclaim.
A room full of electronic devices and attendees with internet access can often prevent remote apps from staying connected to the WiFi. Thankfully, the Proclaim Remote app can function without WiFi if needed—making it perfect for conferences and other scenarios where lots of people have WiFi access.
Sam’s phone had full LTE service—even though the retreat wasn’t in a densely populated area. Without WiFi, the Proclaim remote app uses cell service to communicate with a server in Seattle and relay the information back to Proclaim.
Usually WiFi is the faster option, but when WiFi isn’t an option, Proclaim still lets you control your presentation from the stage. Throughout the retreat, this backup functionality played a key role—Sam controlled all the major transitions from the palm of his hand.
