It’s been decades since Pastor Richard Wurmbrand stunned the world with stories of persecution behind the Iron Curtain. With over 10 million copies in 60 languages, Tortured for Christ offers an inspiring true account of faith under fire that every Christian should read.
And this month, Wurmbrand’s classic is Faithlife Ebooks’ Free Book of the Month. Add it to your library now.
With typical humility, Wurmbrand (1909–2001) once said the book “was written in only three days shortly after my release from prison. But it was written with pen and tears. And for some reason, God has chosen to bless this writing and use it for His purpose.”
You can also add his biography, Wurmbrand, for just $3.99 more.
Released in conjunction with a new movie (Tortured for Christ, in theaters March 5), Wurmbrand explores the inspiring lives of Richard and his wife, Sabina, telling their story in one volume for the first time. Because of their faithfulness to Christ, the couple emerged from years of unthinkably harsh persecution—including imprisonment and forced labor—with a story of unflinching, victorious faith. Their crimes? Leading Christian worship and witnessing, both of which were illegal under the atheistic Communist regime of Romania.
Wurmbrand would go on to found the Christian mission The Voice of the Martyrs. Always his message was, “Hate the evil systems, but love your persecutors. Love their souls, and try to win them for Christ.”
